Latham & Watkins (Paris)
Esperanza is a senior associate in the international arbitration practice of Latham & Watkins in Paris. She represents companies, states, and state-owned entities in high-stakes, complex international arbitrations. She has developed a specific expertise in commercial arbitration, in particular in complex disputes involving multiple parties and/or contracts and with a technical component. Esperanza has a wide range of experience in proceedings under the aegis of the principal arbitration institutions, particularly the ICC, SCC and ICSID. Over the years, she has built up a strong industrial know-how in disputes relating to construction and energy projects in Latin America and Europe, which allows her to call on her civil law training and knowledge of industry-specific contractual practice. She also acts as arbitrator.
A Spanish national trained in the top three French law Schools (Sciences Po, la Sorbonne and Assas), she can navigate cases in a large variety of jurisdictions and languages (Spanish, English, French and Portuguese). Esperanza is also an active member of the arbitral community, frequently appearing as a speaker in cross-border events and publishing, and is strongly committed to diversity and inclusion initiatives.
