Filipa is of counsel in the Arbitration practice. With 20 years’ experience, she regularly acts as a lawyer and arbitrator in arbitration cases.
Filipa has worked in more than 30 arbitrations, in most international organisations including the ICC, LCIA, ICSID, CAM, OHADA, and in ad hoc arbitrations. Her cases have involved jurisdictions in Europe, Africa and Latin America, and have been conducted in Portuguese, English, French and Spanish. Filipa’s has worked with sectors including construction, advertising, transport, cement, banking, and insurance. Prior to devoting herself exclusively to arbitration, Filipa worked on construction cases and she has extensive experience in this area.
Filipa is a member of the boards of the Arbitration Centre of the Portuguese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and of the Portuguese chapter of Club Español del Arbitration (CEA). She is also co-head of the women’s mentoring programme, CEA Mujeres, and a member of the arbitration practice committee and secretary of the board of the general meeting of the Portuguese Arbitration Association (APA).
Filipa has a law degree from the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon and she works regularly as a guest lecturer on postgraduate and master’s courses, as well as being a frequent speaker at conferences on arbitration.
