Mercedes has more than 18 years of experience advising clients in various sectors, including construction, engineering, energy, finance, telecommunications and sports. Prior to joining ONTIER she worked at DAC Beachcroft and Pérez-Llorca for 14 years where she was appointed partner in 2017.

Global Arbitration Review’s Who’s Who Legal has included Mercedes as ‘Arbitration Future Leaders – Partners 2022’ and she has also been included by her peers in Best Lawyers since 2016 in Arbitration and International Arbitration. In addition, Leaders League has highlighted Mercedes as one of the six best arbitrators in Spain in 2022.

In 2020 she was elected member of the Board of Directors of the Spanish Arbitration Club for the following three years and has been a member of the Spanish Bar Association since 2005.

Mercedes has been involved in complex court proceedings and arbitrations, both nationally and internationally, advising on all types of contractual disputes in English and Spanish. Mercedes also advises in proceedings for the enforcement of foreign judgments and awards, as well as in other matters related to private international law. In addition, she acts as an arbitrator.

She is a regular speaker at seminars specialising in arbitration and litigation and has lectured at the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid and the Universidad Europea de Madrid.

Mercedes is recognised by Chambers Global and Europe 2022 and 2021 where clients value her for ‘understanding her clients’ needs very quickly and for practising very good advocacy.’ In addition, in 2019 she was recognised by Iberian Lawyer (Forty under 40 awards) as the best Arbitration Lawyer of the year in Spain and Portugal under 40. Mercedes was described as: ‘Very collaborative and with the ability to get into complex matters in a short time’.
